PART I (250 words)

Choose only ONE of the following topics for your discussion post. 

  1. What misconceptions of the church do you hear from people today? Why is it important that we have a correct, biblical understanding of the church?
  1. Some questions to answer about your experience of church (answer all of these):
    1. Why do you attend church?
    2. Think of an unchurched friend or relative. Would you take them along to your church? Why or why not?
    3. What sort of a church would attract them to a relationship with God?
  2. When do you think someone should be regarded as part of the church? When they are first interested while driving by the church’s gathering place? When they come in to an assembled gathering? When they choose to follow Christ in preference to other options? When they are baptized? When they become members? When they finally die as believers, not having messed up too badly?
  3. We often hear remarks like, “I’m a Christian, but I don’t need the church.” Why do people find this attitude appealing? Do you agree with it?
  4. How would you respond to a person who has been baptized as an infant but now wants to express his or her recent profession of faith through believer’s baptism?
  5. Are there several ways in which churches structure and organize themselves equally valid? Why or why not?
